On June 3, 2020, the Arlington County Fire Department took delivery of 2 new Pierce Manufacturing pumpers. These state of the art pieces of equipment are the workhorses of the Fire Department and carry tools, water, medical equipment and of course firefighter/EMT’s. Once new apparatus arives in the County we add tools, communications and firefighting equipment before they are ready to go in service. This July, Engine 105 and Engine 109 put their new 2020 Pierce Mfg Arrow XT 8100’s in service at heir respective fire stations. The twin pumpers have a 1500 gallon per minute pump and carry 750 gallons of water and 30 gallons of Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Foam. Almost all main fire hoses, called handlines, now come off the rear which allows for safer deployment of hose lines on some of our narrower Arlington streets. These new engines feature the #BG2 LED Light module with #FireTech Lighting from HiViz LED Lighting designed providing scene lighting at night, We are the 1st in the country with these new, very bright brow lights.
Similar to a lease, we purchase new apparatus for 7 years then sell it back to the dealer for an agreed-upon price and receive brand new equipment in exchange. This allows us to have high-quality vehicles with the latest technology and safety features to help us keep our personnel and the public safe.
Thanks to the Arlington, Virginia County Board for its continued support in making sure we have the best and safest equipment on the market. Thanks to all the folks at our equipment bureau for maintaining this complex machinery. Lastly, thanks to all of the residents of Arlington County for their incredible support, it’s an honor serving you.
