ACFD supports the Moving Forward Together/Juntos Hacia Adelante Food Drive

The Arlington County Fire Department (ACFD) in partnership with the Arlington Professional Firefighters and Paramedics Association, is supporting the county-wide Moving Forward Together/Juntos Hacia Adelante Food Drive to benefit the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). ACFD is collecting non-perishable food items for the AFAC pantry from November 27, 2013, to January 1, 2014.

Items that are most needed include:

  • Low-sugar cereal
  • Canned gravy
  • Rice
  • Black beans
  • Masa
  • Flour
  • Cooking oil
  • No glass please!

Slightly more than four in 10 Arlington residents in the $60,000 and under income group are experiencing food insecurity. AFAC assists these residents in need by providing supplemental groceries. AFAC distributes groceries to over 1,500 families every week in Arlington County and 35% of people they serve are children. For more information about AFAC, visit
